Sesame Tempura Green Beans With Soy Dipping Sauce

 
Delicious Japanese style appetizer. Green beans dipped in sesame seed flour, and served with a sugary soy sauce.
 
Ingredients -
2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
2 Teaspoon Lime Juice
1 Teaspoon Superfine Sugar
1Cup All-Purpose Flour
1/4 Cup Sesame Seeds
1 Cup Light Beer
3/4 Pound Green Beans (trimmed)
Salt
 
Preparation:

1. Heat 2 inches of oil in a 4 quart heavy saucepan over moderate heat unit it registers 365 degrees.

2. Make the dipping sauce by stirring together the soy sauce, lime juice, and sugar in a small bowl unit all of the sugar is dissolved.

3. Make the batter by whisking together the flour and sesame seeds in another small bowl, then add the beer and whisk it until it is smooth.

4. When the oil is hot toss about 10 of the beans in the batter until they are coated and then add them to the oil one at a time so that they stay separated, and fry them.

5. When they are golden brown (approximately 1 ½ minutes) transfer them to paper towels, and sprinkle them with salt.

6. Coat and fry the remaining beans in the same manner.

7. Serve the beans with the dipping sauce.

Dont be tempted to use bottled lemon juice in this recipe, use fresh lime juice.

Any light beer will work, but the beer does add flavor, so experiement until you find a flavor and texture that suits you.
